Pop and Shop parking to be introduced in Coach Street, Skipton

A Pop and Shop parking scheme is set to be introduced on Craven District Council's Coach Street car park in Skipton.

The council's Policy Committee agreed to approve the scheme at a meeting on March 1.

Ten spaces will now be introduced in the car park, to complement the scheme already in place on the High Street car park in Skipton.

Paul Ellis, Director of Services at Craven District Council, said: "The council currently operates a pop and shop parking scheme at its High Street car park, Skipton, which is very popular and services the immediate area and High Street extremely well for visitors wishing to make a quick trip to the Town Centre.

"We have recently received requests from schools and retailers near Coach Street for a small number of pop and shop spaces to be made available.

"This will help visitors who need to make a quick visit to the shops on Coach Street and surrounding areas, and will also help parents who need to drop off and pick up their children from the schools on Gargrave Road."

The Pop and Shop spaces will be available for 20p for 30 minutes' parking, with no return within one hour. Charges will apply seven days a week, from 9am to 6pm. Disabled drivers will be given an additional half-hour dispensation.
