Skate park activity day in Aireville Park

Young people from across Craven are invited to a skate park activity day at the new skate park in Aireville Park, Skipton, on Saturday, April 9.

Skatepark launch

The event takes place from 12 noon to 3pm and features displays and coaching from expert skaters from The Works, a DJ, bikeability and balance bike activities, and basic first aid lessons.

The day has been organised by North Yorkshire County Council, Craven District Council, Craven Community Safety Partnership and North Yorkshire Police.

Councillor Linda Brockbank, Craven District Council's lead member for Working with Communities, said: "The skate park in Aireville Park is a fantastic facility for young people and it's been very well used since it was opened last summer.

"We hope to encourage more young people to use the skate park and pump track but we also want them to do so responsibly and look after this area so that it lasts for many more years.

"The councils and the police would like to work with young people who are using the skate park to promote acceptable behaviour, respect for the facility and consideration for other users. We hope that this fun event will help to encourage this."
