Skipton Cycle Races secure Boundless Networks as headline sponsor

Skipton's spectacular town centre cycling races are being sponsored by Boundless Networks in 2016.

The race was such a success last year that British Cycling have decided to include it as part of their prestigious Elite Criterium Series - meaning it will be televised.

Craven District Council gave the go-ahead for the race to take place and has now been successful in securing Boundless Networks as the headline sponsor.

David Hood, chairman of Boundless Networks Ltd, said: "Boundless Networks is delighted to sponsor and support the Skipton Cycle Races 2016.

"Our wireless services, providing speeds from 10Mbps to 1 Gbps, cover Skipton and the surrounding Yorkshire and Lancashire areas and we have many business and residential customers locally.  It's always good to give back to a local community and also to help promote cycling to a wider audience."

Boundless Networks, based in Leeds and Chorley, is one of the UK's leading Fixed Wireless Internet Service Providers for business and residential customers, offering coast-to-coast wireless coverage across the North of England.

Sharon Hudson, Craven District Council's Partnerships & Communications Manager, said: "We're delighted that Boundless Networks have decided to come on board and support Skipton Cycle Races this year.

"This was a great event in 2015 which built on the legacy of the Tour de France in Craven, attracting thousands of spectators to Skipton town centre and encouraging young people to take part. The feedback was very positive from cyclists and spectators alike.

"It's brilliant news that British Cycling have included the race as part of their elite series; the event should be even bigger and better in 2016.

"With the televised coverage this will be an excellent opportunity to showcase Craven businesses and the town itself. Together with the Tour de Yorkshire stage finish in Settle on April 29, we are establishing Craven world-wide as a destination for cycling and tourism."

Around 3,000 spectators attended the event on July 2 last year, with around 60 children taking part in fun races beforehand. Dozens of cyclists also seized the opportunity to ride the route before the elite cyclists started the race.

The proposed date for this year's race is Wednesday, July 6, with races due to take place from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Skipton Town Council has agreed to support the event again both financially and through staffing on the evening, and Skipton Town Partnership is also supporting the event. As in 2015, Craven District Council will also be appointing an event management company to help organise the project.
