Rural development

We are committed to protecting and enhancing the surrounding countryside, for the enjoyment of today's public and for future generations. Such commitments are set out in within the Council's Planning Policy Documents.

Rural development

The current local planning policies which are used by the Council to assess planning applications for development both within the open countryside and the more built-up towns and villages of Craven (outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park), are set out in the Current local plan

The Council is updating their local policies in a series of new documents called the Local Development Framework, which will eventually replace the Adopted Local Plan.
