Craven Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre is offering schoolchildren and students the chance to get fit and active this summer with a number of deals.

Families can swim for just £10 between 9am and 12 noon during the summer holidays and can then claim 15 per cent off lunch or a snack in the leisure centre café.

While they're there, they can also make the most of the free skate park and pump track outside in Aireville Park, and outdoor table tennis.

Inflatable sessions will also be running throughout the summer holidays on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 2pm and from 2pm to 3pm. Advanced booking is required for these sessions, which cost £3.30 for children and £4.50 for adults.

Students aged between 16 and 21 are being offered a six-week student fitness pass for just £30, offering access seven days a week between 9am and 4pm.

That allows them to use the 68-station gym, the 25-metre swimming pool, the sauna and steam rooms, and choose from 70 exercise classes per week.

Lloyd Hancox, Leisure Services Manager at Craven District Council, which runs the centre, said: "This is the ideal opportunity to cool off, have fun and stay active over the summer holidays.

"Children who exercise are more likely to develop a lifelong habit of physical activity and we are keen to encourage this, so we're offering these deals to families and students which we hope will be popular."
