Deadline approaches for community groups to apply for funding from Craven District Council

Community groups are being reminded to apply for funding from the Craven Community Grants scheme before the deadline on September 4.

This is a final round of funding in addition to the Ward Member Grants which have just been introduced in the district.

Projects applying for cash should address one or more of the council's priorities: Enterprising Craven, Working With Communities, Greener Craven and Financial Resilience.

They should also demonstrate a local need for the project and show how the proposals would benefit the community.

Completed funding applications must be received by the council by midnight on Sunday September 4, 2016.

The final panel will meet in late September 2016 to consider the applications, and projects benefiting from the funding must be completed by the end of March 2017.

Craven District Council has recently launched a new grants scheme, the Ward Member Grant scheme, which allows community groups to apply to their local councillors for cash to provide community run events, services and facilities.

Each ward councillor has a maximum of £1,000 to give out to local organisations. The scheme will run as a pilot for a year and incorporates the £16,000 budget for small and medium community grants, along with an additional £15,000 from the New Homes Bonus.
