Shoppers will get the chance to find something unusual for Christmas and enjoy a treat of mince pies and biscuits at the same time.

Settle and North Craven is becoming a hub for artists, with studios and galleries popping up around the towns and villages creating artisan crafts at affordable prices. Settle Tourist Information Centre is working with these local artists to provide gifts for visitors.

Yvonne Fortune, Settle's Tourist Information Manager, said: "We wanted to showcase some of our local artists' work as well as encourage people to explore other hidden gems and purchase some really special gifts."

Visitors to the centre can now buy Reindeer, Highland Cattle, Swaledale Sheep, Hares and Wild Flowers crafted by wireworker Linda Hoyle who draws inspiration from the natural environment of the Yorkshire Dales to create fascinating sculptures in silver and copper wire.

Also on offer are brightly coloured, individually crafted fused glass ornaments, bowls and candle holders as well as Christmas decorations created by Annette and Gary McMillan of Stonegate Gallery, Ingleton. For those who want to get crafty themselves, including making traditional rag rugs, there is a selection of craft bags from Hulton Crafts.

Cards for Good Causes Christmas Cards, a wide selection from 48 different charities, are also available at the centre, at Settle Town Hall, Market Place, Settle, BD24 9EJ. For more information on Settle Tourist Information Centre, go to
