Theatre, art, workshops, dance and film all feature in the exciting new series of events, many of which will make use of the brand new raked seating which has been installed by Craven District Council in the Concert Hall as part of improvements made possible through a recent Arts Council grant.

Danielle Daglan, Programming & Venue Development Manager at Craven District Council, said: "We're delighted to launch this exciting and innovative new programme at the Town Hall. There's something for everyone here - cutting-edge new theatre, world-class music, outstanding art work, fun events for children and families, and classic film.

"We hope audiences will enjoy these performances and will come along to see the fantastic improvements we are making to the building as we transform it into a cultural hub for the district."

The shows kick off with a performance of The Last Supper, by Reckless Sleepers - an unusual immersive theatre experience on Wednesday September 27 at 7.30pm.

The performance space will be set up to mirror Christ's final meal with his disciples, while three performers present the last words of a number of significant figures throughout history.

Films will continue into 2018 with a screening of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet on Wednesday February 14 and Suffragette on Thursday March 8, International Women's Day.

In the Exhibition Gallery, Marvellous Mechanicals continues to run until September 23; a celebration of the makers and tinkerers who explore movement in their art, featuring a range of sculptures. Following on from this will be Art In Mind, a mixed media exhibition of pieces created by a range of individuals working with Pioneer Projects. This exhibition will run from October 7 to October 28 and has been designed to coincide with World Mental Health Day on the 10th.

The ever-popular Town Hall Tea Dances will continue, featuring Blackpool Tower Ballroom organist John Bowdler, with the autumn event on Tuesday October 10 at 1.30pm and a Christmas Special Tea Dance on Tuesday December 5, 1.30pm.
