Street cleaning programme

The Council has a statutory responsibility to keep open public land, that it is responsible for, clear of litter and refuse.

The service is provided by 9 Street Cleansing Operatives who:

  • sweep roads, pavements and other public land across Craven for which the Council is responsible;
  • litter pick in the towns and villages;
  • empty litter bins and dog waste bins;
  • litter pick from road side verges and hedgerows on the main arterial routes across Craven; and
  • clean up small incidents of fly tipping. (Larger amounts of fly tipping are collected by the waste collection team.) Once investigations of fly tipping have been carried by our Enforcement Team, all fly tipped waste will be removed within 10 working days.
