Housing Advice - support for tenants

Tenancy Support Services provide housing-related support to assist tenants to manage in their homes, promote independence and prevent homelessness.

Support

Tenants who for a number of reasons do not have the knowledge or skills to manage independently may find it difficult to cope and may ultimately be in danger of losing their home.

Tenancy Support can assist with a range of issues including:

  • Budgeting and debt issues,
  • Making sure you are receiving all the benefits to which you are entitled,
  • Setting up home,
  • Accessing services such as GP's, dentists, etc.,
  • Form filling,
  • Neighbour disputes, antisocial behaviour.

Social landlords and councils with housing stock usually offer a tenancy support service to help tenants manage their affairs.  Any social housing tenant experiencing difficulties who feel they need support, should contact their landlord housing association.

In Craven, partner agency Foundation provides accommodation based and floating support to tenants.  For single homeless people accommodation with tailored support based around individual needs is available. Requests for floating support can be received from agencies or from individuals who feel the need for support.  Customers can be resident in the property or can receive the support service prior to commencing a tenancy.

Support can be wide ranging but always focused around the individual needs of customers.

Foundation also works in partnership with other agencies including Mental Health services, the Probation Service, local Drug and Alcohol services, Social Services, and local authority housing services.

Foundation's contact details are shown to the right of the page.
