Advice and information on health issues of concern to individuals and the community. Providing advice on how to live active and healthy lives for all members of the community. The County Council may work with other agencies (health services) and organisations to provide this service.
Rehabilitation provides people with physical and sensory disabilities with help to recover and regain their independence often following an illness, injury or stay in hospital. A care worker will provide advice on how to cope with illness or disability, or organise the provision of aids and equipment to help in everyday tasks.
Social Services and a number of voluntary organisations work with families where a child is HIV positive to deal with any immediate problems, and to help the family plan for the long term care of children.
Syringes
Information and advice on vaccinations for children and travellers. This is generally provided in conjunction with local health providers.
All children in the UK are offered vaccination against certain diseases such as diphtheria, measles, mumps, rubella etc. as part of the childhood immunisation schedule.
The needs assessment looks at the information available for the communities of North Yorkshire and tells the story of the local populations in terms of health and well-being.
Child maintenance is paid for children who live away from one or both of their parents. It is an amount of money paid regularly by the non-resident parent for the child. The Child Support Agency calculates and collects child maintenance for parents and children who normally live in the UK.
