Activities within Planning Services at Craven District Council are split into the following areas: -

Within these pages you can find information on viewing current and past planning applications, commenting on planning applications, making an application, and obtaining advice on the need for planning permission.

    Planning Enforcement investigate alleged cases of development that has been undertaken without the necessary permission, or not in accordance with the conditions of a permission. Where necessary legal action can be taken to require breaches of planning control to be rectified.

    Planning Policy

    The Planning Policy Service write the policies and guidance documents that set out the location and design of development within the area. The Planning Policy pages provide information on the existing Local Plan, the accompanying proposals maps, planning guidance for people wanting to submit planning applications, and the work the Council is currently doing on the new Local Development Plan.

    Advice on Tree Preservation Orders, works to trees within Conservation Areas, the removal of hedgerows, and High Hedge complaints.

    Local Land Charges

    Local Land Charges is the service which undertakes official searches for the conveyancing of land and properties, and maintains the Register of Charges.

    The Yorkshire Dales National Park within Craven District.

    The Yorkshire Dales National Park includes land that is within the boundary of Craven District Council. The National Park is responsible for Planning within its area and not Craven District Council. Local Land Charges and other services provided by Craven District Council still operate within the National Park.
