There are a range of Clubs, Facilities and Events for taking part in Sport, Fitness, Recreation, Leisure and Physical Activity. These are all listed below.

Health walks
There are a number of Health Walk Groups across the Craven District Area. There are all listed here for you to contact and enquire about joining them. There are 4 Health Walking Groups that are approved by the National Walking for Health scheme.

The Council Sports Development Officer (SDO) offers a range of services that supports community sports organisations, events or individuals.

The Council does not directly provide any Sports Coaching. However, there is a wide range of Sports Coaching taking place across the many sports clubs and facilities in the District.

Sports Facilities
There are nearly 200 Sports Faculties across the Craven District. These are run by a range of organisations from Craven District Council, Schools, Charities, Sports Clubs and Commercial business. There are too many to list here but they are all listed on the national Active Places website.

Free Access to National Sports People (FANS)
Craven Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre offers Elite and Talented athletes Free membership through the FANS scheme.

Outdoor activity centres
Outdoor activity centres
Provision of outdoor activity centres for use by schools, groups or individuals. There are many Centres across the Craven District. There are commercial, charity/voluntary and School run centres.

Licence - sports grounds
Designated grounds are those with a capacity of more than 10,000, or in the case of a Premier or Football League ground, more than 5,000. There are no such grounds in Craven that trigger this Licence requirement.

We do have a range of equipment that is available for hire (a deposit may be required). Please contact the Centre for further details (01756) 792805.

Craven District Council operates Craven Swimming Pool and Fitness. A modern facility that caters for the whole community.

Triathlon Club
Craven Energy is a triathlon/multisport club based in and around Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Members of Skipton Swimming Club practice and compete at Craven Swimming Pool.

Skipton Aikido Club
Aikido
Aikido is a self-defence and sports-oriented martial art. Tomiki Aikido teaches the student how to avoid the aggressive actions of an attacker and focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy against them; to gain control of them or to throw them away from you .
