Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance is the most traditional way to commemorate a loved one. Inscriptions are handwritten on leaves of the finest parchment and are inscribed in leather bound volumes.
The memorial entries are carefully inscribed by highly skilled artists with the wording of your choice, and are placed in memory of a loved one on a commemorative date. This can be the date of death, cremation, birthdays, anniversaries; any date which is the most memorable to the family.
There are four books; two representing the first 6 months of the year (January to June) and two representing the final months of the year (July to December). Each book has two days to view (ie the 5th & 6th of the month). The pages are turned daily. If you wish to view an entry on a day other than which it appears in the book, you may do so during normal office hours. It is advisable that you contact the Bereavement Services Office in order to make an appointment so that the pages can be turned.
The books are inscribed twice a year and therefore there will be a period of time when books for the opposite side of the year are not available to view.
Inscriptions can take the form of 2 lines to 8 lines or more and can incorporate a floral emblem, a badge, shield, crest etc including hobbies and pets and illuminated initials, (all with corresponding costs).
Copies of the book are also available to view anytime on line at http://www.remembrance-books.com/skipton/book-of-remembrance.html to enable you to view the inscription even if you are unable to visit the Book of Remembrance Chapel.
