Coronavirus  - business rates support

Support with business rates during the disruption caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19).

You should by now have received your business rates bill for 2020/21. As you’ll have seen in the news, the government has made changes to business rates in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This includes suspending business rates for firms in certain sectors and making cash grants available to others.

Guidance on Nursery (Childcare) Relief has now been published. This relief will apply to hereditaments which are occupied by providers listed on Ofsted’s Early Years Register and which are wholly or mainly used for the provision of the Early Years Foundation Stage and which are subject to business rates in the year 2020/21. There will be no rateable value limit on the relief.

Ofsted will ensure that all local authorities can access the Ofsted Early Years Register to help authorities identify eligible properties. This being the case, there is no need for businesses to contact us - we will identify the qualifying properties and award the relief as soon as possible.

You can read the latest information on the government website - www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-support-for-businesses

There is no need to contact us about your business rates. We will amend affected accounts and re-issue bills as soon as we have received government guidance.

Thank you for your patience in these difficult times.
