Tier 2 Payments Update - January 7th, 2021
Tier 2 Grants are paid roughly every two weeks. However if you have already applied for a Tier 2 Grant you do not need to apply again for the second payment. The second payment will be made automatically and we hope to make this payment by January 14th.
Please only apply with the form at the bottom of this page if you have not already made a Tier 2 application.
Please note - for payments made after January 8th, the payment will be for one amount covering 29 days.
Tier 2 Grants
Craven was placed in Tier 2 from 2nd December up until 30th December. As with the national restrictions there are grants available for both open and closed businesses, although the businesses eligible for each scheme will differ depending on what restrictions apply to each tier for the time frame in question.
The Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) is aimed in the main at the hospitality, accommodation and leisure sectors and the Council intends to prioritise these businesses. However, awards to businesses outside of these sectors are not ruled out.
LRSG (Open) - Tier 2 Restrictions – businesses to be supported
The LRSG (Open) is intended primarily at the hospitality, accommodation and leisure sectors. The Council has limited funding to exercise some discretion and has chosen to focus on businesses in the supply chain to these sectors. To qualify for a grant the business must still be OPEN and fall into one of the categories listed below. As a general rule the business will have an entry in the Rating List, although some B & B’s and supply chain businesses might fall outside of business rates.
Qualifying hereditaments are those that are being used wholly or mainly for the provision of sport, leisure and facilities to visiting members of the public (including for the viewing of such activities) and include the following (list not exhaustive):
- Hotels, Guest and Boarding Houses
- Holiday lets
- Caravan parks and sites
- Sports grounds and clubs
- Museums, theatres & art galleries
- Sport and leisure facilities
- Stately homes and historic houses
- Tourist attractions
- Gyms, wellness centres, spas, massage parlours
- Casinos, gambling clubs and bingo halls
- Public halls
- Clubhouses, clubs and institutions

LRGS (Closed) – Tier 2 Restrictions
Pubs that are closed because they do not serve food are eligible for a grant under the LRGS (Closed) scheme (from 2nd Dec onwards). ‘Wet-led’ pubs are defined as those which derive under 50% of their income from food sales.
This scheme is for pubs / bars that do not serve substantial meals and must therefore remain closed from 2nd December 2020 onwards due to the local restriction level in North Yorkshire area being Tier 2 (very high). The business must be assessed for Non-Domestic Rates (business rates) purposes.
