Craven District Council

This website uses cookies - small data files that it creates and stores on your device - to make our website easier to use, to give you access to our online services, and to anonymously analyse how people use our website.

What are cookies exactly?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer by a website.  The website stores data in the cookie that it may subsequently use as you move from page to page or in some cases the data may be sent back to the website by your browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari or any other software used to 'browse' websites).

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or install malware on your computer.

Many cookies are automatically deleted after you finish using a website.  Cookies may come with or without an expiry date: those without an expiry date (session cookies) exist until the browser is closed, while cookies with an expiry date may be stored by the device until the expiry date passes.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies to make your experience of using our website faster and easier. For example:

  • if you log in we use cookies to remember that;
  • we monitor how the website is used to improve our website for all users.  Information is collected anonymously amd may include how a visitor entered the site (referring links), and how they navigated through the site, i.e. what information was of interest.  Craven District Council collects such information indirectly when you access and the other websites or web applications that we manage (some of which are managed on behalf of Craven District Council by third party suppliers).

You can restrict or block cookies set by Craven District Council but this may limit your use of some functionality on our site, such as filling in forms and getting access to password protected areas that are in use across any of the sites we manage. However, most things you do on our site will still be possible even with cookies disabled.

Craven District Council uses third-party suppliers who also set cookies throughout our websites on our behalf to deliver the services that they are providing or to record usage. More information on the cookies we and our third-party suppliers set can be found below.

How to manage your cookies

To find out how to allow, block, delete and manage the cookies on all standard web browsers please visit the About cookies website. If you use a mobile phone or a tablet to browse our website (or other sites that use cookies), please refer to your device's support documentation  for guidance.
