Rights of access to information

Craven District Council aims to promote a good understanding of the way we operate. Where we hold information, we will do our best to provide you with what you ask for as long as there is no legal or other restriction on us disclosing it.

Individuals have important rights to access information held by all public bodies including Craven District Council. under three specific pieces of legislation:

  • The Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • The Environmental Information Regulations 2004
  • Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation

As part of the Authority's commitment to openness, transparency and accountability, much of our information is routinely published and is easily accessible either from this website or by contacting us directly.

The Council is a data controller in accordance with the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation. If you wish to obtain copies of the personal data that the Council holds about you, you can use the Data Protection Subject Access Request form at the foot of this page to do so. If you do not use the form, then please make sure that you include all the information that is requested on it. The form contains the address to where you should send your request.
