EU Referendum

The UK Government held a referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union on 23 June 2016.

The Electoral Commission proposed the wording of the referendum question, which was accepted by MPs:

"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"

The options for voters were:

  • Remain a member of the European Union
  • Leave the European Union

The number of votes cast in favour of LEAVE was
