Elections 2018

The next scheduled elections in Craven are due to take place on Thursday 3rd May 2018.

In total, nine seats on Craven District Council are up for election, as well as all out elections in twenty two parishes*. Elections are scheduled for 3rd May in the following areas:

The following are some key dates/deadlines for the upcoming elections:

Thursday 15th March - An open drop-in session at the council's offices at Belle Vue Square between 10am and 12pm and 2pm and 4pm for anyone thinking of standing as a candidate in the elections, but wants more information. At 5.30pm, there will be a more formal briefing presentation also at Belle Vue Square for candidates and agents on what to expect if you decide to become a candidate.

Tuesday 27th March - The notice of election is published and the window for candidates to submit their nomination papers begins.

Friday 6th April - The deadline for candidates to submit their nomination papers is at 4pm on this day.

Monday 9th April - The list of candidates for each area must be published by 4pm on this day.

Monday 16th April - Postal votes are dispatched to those who have applied to vote by post before the end of March 2018.

Tuesday 17th April - If you are not currently registered to vote, you must register by this date to be able to vote on 3rd May. To register, go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Wednesday 18th April - The deadline to apply for a postal vote is at 5pm on this day.

Wednesday 25th April - The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is at 5pm on this day

Thursday 3rd May - ELECTION DAY!

 

*A parish will only have an election if there are more candidates than the number of seats available.
