Craven GIS

Geographic Information System (GIS) is software that shows mapping with other datasets to be able to create, manage and analyse information.

Our Vision is

“To enable more efficient business processes and improve service delivery through strategic management of the Councils geographical and address data resources”

which we have produced an “At a glance guide” to show how we intend to achieve our goals.

We share meaningful information to our authority’s residents and businesses, keeping the spatial data local and open to re-use without restriction where permitted.

The datasets are derived from our internal services, maintaining up to date information to retain accuracy of use such as Parish & Ward boundaries, Listed Buildings, Smoke Controlled areas and more.  We also use external resources such as the Environment Agency, Historic England and Canal & River Trust to name a few.

This collection of spatial data helps build up a picture of what is going on in and around Craven, many of which have an impact on decision making, such as Planning Applications, Electoral Districts, Local Taxation, mapping out the Refuse Truck routes and maintaining address information.

Listed below are groups of spatial data information that you may find beneficial, if you would like anything more specific, please email our GIS team
