Waste Technical Officer

We are looking for a Waste Technical Officer to provide a comprehensive depot based technical support service to the Waste Operations team. Closing Date: 2nd February 2020

Salary - £21,589 - £23,836

37 hours per week

We are located in Skipton, North Yorkshire and with excellent road and rail links to both Leeds and Bradford we are easily accessible.

You will be a key member of the Council's Waste Management team, working holistically and collaboratively with the Waste Operations Manager, Waste Operations Supervisor, Commercial Waste Officers, Waste Management Officer and Transport Manager.

Job Purpose

Provide a comprehensive depot based technical support service to the Waste Operations team to enable the effective and efficient provision of a comprehensive waste collection and street cleansing service.

To assist with the planning, design, execution and monitoring of projects and initiatives to support and develop service improvements and efficiencies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, implement, monitor, maintain and keep updated all IT systems, platforms and databases, including in cab technology and route optimisation software and telemetry to meet the needs of progressive, flexible and responsive waste collection and street cleansing operations.

Prepare and keep updated route optimisation schedules, work procedures and technical records relating to refuse collection and street cleansing services (including approved collection points) across the district.

Maintain and keep updated all health and safety action plans, risk assessments, risk registers, safe system of work records, including round risk assessments and ensure the corporate health and safety recording system is kept fully updated with all such records and information at all times.

Based at our Engine Shed Lane depot in Skipton the essential requirements of the post include GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths, experience of design, development, implementation and monitoring of waste and street cleansing IT based management support systems and experience of producing performance management reports and performance information for use by supervisors and senior managers.
