Notice is hereby given that Craven District Council (hereinafter called `the Council’) in exercise of its powers under Sections 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (`the 1984 Act’) (as amended) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers, with the consent of North Yorkshire County Council in accordance with section 39(3) of the 1984 Act and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the 1984 Act proposes to make the above order. The Order shall be effective from 13th January 2020.
The effect of the Order shall be to provide additional clarity within the current parking places order to ensure that abandoned vehicles can be removed efficiently from council car parks to improve car parking management as set out below:-
Citation and Commencement
The order may be cited as The Craven District Council (Off-Street Parking Places) and Consolidation (Amendment) (Abandoned Vehicles) Order 2019 and shall come into effect on 13th January 2020.
Any reference in this order to any enactment shall be construed as a reference to that enactment as amended by any subsequent enactment
The Interpretation Act 1978 shall apply to the interpretation of this order as it applies to an Act of Parliament.
The order specified in the Schedule hereto shall have effect subject to amendments specified in that Schedule in respect of abandoned vehicles.

Name of Order to be Amended
The Craven District Council (Off Street Parking Places) and Consolidation Order 2017 ('the Order')
Purpose of Amendment
The purpose of this amendment is to improve car park management by providing for the removal from a Parking Place of a Vehicle that appears to be abandoned.
Extent of Amendment
Insert into the Order the following as Article 53
Disposal of Vehicles abandoned in Parking Places
The Council may remove from a Parking Place any Vehicle which has been or appears to have been abandoned and in such circumstance the Council may subsequently sell or otherwise dispose of such a Vehicle (in accordance with current legislation).
A copy of the Order, relevant plans (and a copy of the order being amended) together with a copy of the Statement of Reasons for the making the Order are available for inspection during usual business hours at the offices of Craven District Council, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton BD23 1FJ.
