Parking Places Order Consultation

Consultation on proposals to provide additional electric vehicle charging points and additional overnight parking places order amendments.

The Council is proposing to make three formal Orders under Section 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).  The Orders will:

Approve the installation in our car parks of 2 Fast electric vehicle charging points on Ashfield and 2 Rapid points on Coach Street, supplied and installed free of charge by our preferred partner and install up to 3 points on North Street, 3 points on Milligan fields, 3 points on Community Centre and 3 points on Grasmere Drive car parks.

Approve the amendments to the current Parking Order to support the proposed changes and provide delegated authority to the Director of Services in consultation with the Council Solicitor to publish the proposed amendments for statutory consultation in accordance with regulation. Consultation responses will be considered by the Director of Services in consultation with the Lead Member.

Approve an increase to the overnight motorhome parking spaces at Coach Street, Greenfoot and Ingleton Car Parks to a maximum of 5 parking spaces in line with the Council’s parking strategy, whilst retaining these spaces as standard parking spaces in accordance with the Parking Places Order during the day.

The Council is proposing the changes commence in July 2022.

Formal notice of proposals to make the amendment orders, together with the amendment orders as proposed, the Council’s statements of reasons for making the amendment orders and a copy of the order to be amended can all be viewed at the Council’s offices at Belle Vue Square.

If you have any comments or objections about these proposals which you would like the Council to consider before it formalises the proposed changes, please write to Property Manager at to arrive no later than 6th June 2022.
