Towards the end of each year, the Council publishes a report on the demand for and supply of self-build plots in its planning area. Demand is indicated by the number of people joining the Council's self-build and custom housebuilding register and supply is indicated by the number of suitable plots being approved. Figures in the latest report, for 2018/19, indicate a good balance is being achieved between demand and supply.
At the end of the last base period (30th October 2019) the number of people on the register had reached a total of 33 and 39 suitable plots had received planning permission. People are joining the register at a rate of about one person per month and the number of plot approvals is keeping slightly ahead.
