30/03/21 - Draft Affordable Housing SPD second consultation closed
Consultation on a second draft Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document ended on 29th March 2021. The Council is now considering responses received and would like to thank participants for their contribution.

04/03/21 - Latest settlement growth monitoring figures published
The Council monitors delivery of the Craven Local Plan housing requirement and figures for the last quarter are now available from the settlement growth monitoring webpage.

15/02/21 - Second consultation on draft Affordable Housing SPD
The Council is running a 6-week public consultation on a second draft Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document until 29th March 2021. For full details, including how to submit your comments, please visit the Consultations webpage.

12/02/21 - Planning policy is changing to spatial planning
The Council is renaming its planning policy service and, over the coming weeks, will be updating related webpages and other communications. The Planning Policy Team will become the Spatial Planning Team and all team members will continue with their normal work. Previous methods of contact, such as email addresses and webpage links, will continue to function during and after this transition.

The Council's Authority Monitoring Report for April 2019 to March 2020 is now available from the AMR webpage.

15/12/20 - Draft conservation area appraisals consultation closed
Consultation on draft conservation area appraisals ended on 14th December 2020. The Council is now considering all responses received and would like to thank all participants for their contributions.

05/11/20 - Updated SHELAA and Five Year Housing Land Supply
The Council has published updates to its SHELAA and Five Year Housing Land Supply Report, which are now available from the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment and Core evidence webpages, respectively.

19/10/20 Consultation on draft conservation area appraisals
The Council is running an extended 8-week public consultation on draft appraisals for 16 existing and 3 potentially new conservation areas throughout Craven. The consultation runs until 14th December 2020 and full details, including how to submit your comments, are available on the Consultations webpage.

14/10/20 - Draft Affordable Housing SPD consultation closed

23/09/20 - Local Development Scheme (LDS) updated
The Council's LDS, which is a timetable for the production and review of local planning policy documents, has been updated and is available from the Craven Local Plan webpage. The updated LDS includes a revised list of proposed Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs).

19/08/20 - Entry-Level Exception Sites
The Council has published a report on 'The need for entry-level affordable homes in Craven', which is now available from the Policy evidence webpage under policies SP4 and H2.

03/06/20 - An introduction to Craven Local Plan policies
A quick overview of all 45 Craven Local Plan policies is now available here. The overview provides a broad description of the general aims and requirements of each policy and is a good introduction to the full Local Plan text.

05/05/20 - Latest settlement growth monitoring figures published

17/02/20 - Updated SHELAA methodology finalised and published
Following consideration of consultation responses, the Council has now published a final version of its updated SHELAA methodology. Full details are available on the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment webpage.

07/02/20 - Craven Local Plan webpage moved
In order to better reflect the status of the local plan as the starting point for planning decisions, the Craven Local Plan webpage has been improved and relocated to the main Planning landing page. The vacated slot on the Planning policy landing page has been filled by a new page, which provides information about statutory Plan-making and how it relates to Craven.

29/01/20 - Planning Focus newsletter relaunched
Planning Focus first appeared in 2009 and, following adoption of the Craven Local Plan in 2019, has been relaunched as an online news outlet for the whole planning department. Planning policy articles are now published on the Planning Focus webpage and regular round-ups are emailed to everyone with a subscription.

20/12/19 - SHELAA methodology consultation closed
Consultation on an updated methodology for the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) ended on 19/12/19. The Council is now considering all responses received and would like to thank all participants for their contributions.

12/11/19 - Council adopts the new local plan
On Tuesday 12th November 2019, members of Craven District Council met to consider the finalised Craven Local Plan 2012-2032 and resolved to adopt it. This means that the new local plan, which began as an early draft in 2014, is now in force and replaces the old Craven District Local Plan, which was adopted in 1999. Decisions on planning applications will be guided by the new Craven Local Plan from now on. The Council's planning policy webpages have been updated to reflect these changes and full details of the adoption, including the plan itself and related documents, are now available on the Craven Local Plan webpage.
