Q. What is a Listed Building and what difference does this make to applying for planning permission?

A. A listed building is an important building, object or structure.

That has been judged by Historic England to be of national importance in terms of special architectural or historic interest.

Listed building applications need to the submitted to the Local Planning Authority for any works which affect the listed building. The Council will look at the proposals in their entirety and in the light of possible earlier alterations or extensions.
