We have begun the process of setting our budget for the 2021/2022 financial year. This will be approved in February 2021.
Our Budget Consultation has been extended and will now close on Wednesday December 23rd. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete.

The Challenge - In previous years the council has received Revenue Support Grant from Central Government. This has been reduced to zero.
With continued reductions in Government funding, the Council faces significant challenges in balancing its budget, and needs to save a further £1.275 million over the next four years, up to 2023/24. The savings target for 2021/22 will be £576,000.
Remember – not all of the Council Tax you pay goes to this Council.
Craven District Council will keep just £177.21 (£3.40 per week) of the £1,872.79 paid in Council Tax by a Craven household in 2019/20 to fund the services it provides (based on an average band D property Council Tax 19/20). The rest will go to North Yorkshire County Council, The Police & Fire Authorities and Parish/Town Councils.
Remember – not all of the Business Rates you pay go to this Council.
In 2019/2020 Craven District Council collected £18.106 million in Business Rates. It kept just £1.6 million (about 8.8%) to fund the services it provides. The rest will go to Central Government for re-distribution nationally, North Yorkshire County Council, and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
