The Planning Committee is comprised of 12 Councillors and meets every month. Its role is to consider significant planning applications for development and deal with all development control issues, including tree and enforcement matters. The Planning Scheme of Delegation is used to decide which items are to be considered by the Committee and can be found here.
(The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is responsible for planning policy and development control within its area, which covers around two-thirds of the land area of Craven.)
Audio Recording of Committee Meetings
We make a recording of each Planning Committee meeting and store them on Soundcloud, an audio streaming website. If you wish to listen to a recording then please visit the Soundcloud website. Visit the Soundcloud website here.

Planning Good Practice Guidance for Members
The Planning Good Practice Guidance is prepared for the assistance of Members in dealing with planning matters; this includes decision making meetings of the Council where planning functions of the planning authority are exercised and less formal occasions such as meetings with officers or the public or consultative meetings. It applies equally to planning enforcement matters and site specific policy issues as it does to planning applications.
The agenda and meeting papers will be available for download five working days before the meeting. If you have any queries about the availability of the papers or for any other Council / Committee information then please contact the Democratic Services Team by e-mailing email@example.com or by telephone (01756) 706226.
