Review of Polling Districts, Polling Places and Polling Stations 2018/19

Craven District Council has a duty to review all polling districts and polling places every five years and the last review took place in 2014.

NOTICE OF REVIEW OF POLLING DISTRICTS AND

POLLING PLACES/STATIONS

 

Craven District Council has a duty to review all polling districts and polling places every five years and the last review took place in 2014.  Under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, the compulsory review periods are now:

 

  • The period of 16 months beginning with 1 October 2013, and
  • The period of 16 months beginning with 1 October of every fifth year after that.

 

The Council decides upon the polling districts and polling places, while the Returning Officer, who acts independently of the Council, is responsible for providing the polling stations.

 

The Council is now consulting with interested individuals and organisations.  We will be pleased to receive representations from stakeholders, which includes electors, parishes, political parties, councillors and other interested people or groups.  Also comments are invited from people / organisations who have an expertise in access for people with disabilities.

 

Supporting documentation showing current polling districts, polling places and polling stations, along with information about accessibility at each polling station, is available on the Craven DC website and for inspection in person at:

 

  • 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ

            (from Monday, 1 October 2018)

 

We will send you information for particular areas if you ask for it, which can be either by

e-mail (elections@cravendc.gov.uk) or telephone (01756 706241).

 

The (Acting) Returning Officer had published his initial proposals alongside this notice. These will are available on the Craven DC website and for inspection in person at the place given above.

 

Views and comments should be made in writing, setting out any alternative suggestions, by no later than Friday, 23 November 2018 to the Electoral Services Manager, Craven District Council, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ.  Email: elections@cravendc.gov.uk

 

The Electoral Services Manager / (Acting) Returning Officer will then make proposals to the Council, having considered all the views and comments made.  The Council Meeting where the final recommendations will be considered will be the February meeting of full Council and will be open to the public.

 

The result of the review will be published by the Council in early 2019 at the Belle Vue Square offices, Skipton.
