Customer Service Advisor

We’re looking for a permanent Customer Service Advisor to join our close knit team. Craven District Council’s Customer Service Team is the first point of contact for many of the Council’s customers. Closing Date: 24th February 2019

Part Time (30 hours per week)

Salary: Scale 3-4 £17,681 - £20,541 pro rata per annum

You’ll be dealing with a wide range of enquiries on matters as diverse as council tax, housing benefit, garden waste subscriptions, parking permits, electoral registration, planning and not forgetting bin collections! No day is ever the same.

Working as part of the Customer Service team, your primary role will be to work on the telephones in our contact centre as well as serving customers face to face in the Council’s reception area.

As the first point of contact for many of our customers, you will be responsible for creating that important first impression of Craven District Council and delivering excellent customer service.

To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and able to work under pressure during the busier times of the year. You will be a team player, empathetic and with a “can do” attitude and a flexible approach. You must be able to act on your own initiative and see a task through to completion.

Previous experience of working in a customer services environment is essential. Full training will be provided, but knowledge of council tax, housing benefit or other local authority delivered services would be an advantage.
