Celebrate in royal style with a day of family-friendly entertainment at Skipton Town Hall!

Skipton Town Hall will be celebrating the Royal Wedding with a free indoor street party and live screening of the event on Saturday May 19 - along with a fun, hands-on ‘Sheep to Cloth’ textile event and a screening of Shaun The Sheep – The Movie.

The marriage of HRH Prince Henry of Wales to Meghan Markle will be shown on the big cinema screen in the Town Hall.

The couple will marry at midday and will travel through Windsor in a carriage at 1pm. The Skipton Town Hall event will run from 11.30am to 4pm, and Pimms, tea, cakes and other refreshments will be available to purchase from the Hub bar.

The event ‘Sheep to Cloth’ will be running from 2pm to 5pm the same day; Museums at Night is a nationwide event where all UK museums, galleries, libraries and heritage sites can throw open their doors after hours to showcase their treasures in unexpected ways.

The event at Skipton Town Hall will be a celebration of the textile skills of Craven throughout the ages with the chance to try out historic cloth making skills.

Danielle Daglan, Programming & Venue Development Manager at Craven District Council, said: “This promises to be a brilliant day of entertainment for all the family at Skipton Town Hall!

“We know many people in Craven will want to celebrate the Royal Wedding and what better way to do this than with an indoor street party?

“You can also come along and take part in some fantastic hands-on activities with ‘Sheep to Cloth’ – and round it all off with a teatime picnic and viewing of the classic film Shaun The Sheep.”

Visitors to “Sheep to Cloth” can have a go at spinning with a drop spindle, dyeing from plants or weaving on a peg loom. Skipton Embroiderers’ Guild and Craven Guild of Lacemakers will also be there showing off their skills.

There will be dressing up costumes from the past, with a photo booth and plenty of craft activities for both children and adults.

The screening of Shaun The Sheep – The Movie will take place at 5pm. This family favourite follows Shaun as he decides to take the day off and have some fun - but gets a little more action than he bargained for.

Tickets for Shaun The Sheep are £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children, and the price includes the tea-time picnic. Tickets are available from www.cravendc.gov.uk/skipton-town-hall or from the Box Office by calling 01756 792 809.
